Comic Haul week of March 28th, 2023!

New comics!

Unstoppable Doom Patrol #1 - The show is pretty good! Unfortunatly for me, I have no idea what the Lazarus Planet crossover is and I don’t think this will be a good way for me to first experience whatever the “Dawn of DC” either.

Tim Drake: Robin #7 - “NICE!” - the cashier

Waller vs. Wildstorm #1 - this book is a weird inconvenient shape

The Rocketeer: The Great Race #3 and #4

Heavy Metal Drummer #6 - this book is also a weird shape but small

Punchline: The Gotham Game #6

My friend helped me write a story about my dog with chatgpt, enjoy!

[INT. JAMES' LIVING ROOM - NIGHT]

James, a grumpy but acquiescent accountant and comic book nerd, is sitting on the couch, working on his taxes. Bucky, his peculiar dog, is pacing back and forth.

JAMES: (Sighs) Bucky, can't you just sit still for a moment? I'm trying to focus here.

BUCKY: (Whines and continues pacing)

[INT. JAMES' LIVING ROOM - LATER]

James is engrossed in a comic book, while Bucky stares intently at the TV, as if he's decoding a secret message.

JAMES: (Squinting) Bucky, why are you always staring at the TV like that? It's just a bunch of commercials.

[EXT. JAMES' BACKYARD - DAY]

James is mowing the lawn while Bucky digs a hole. James gets frustrated.

JAMES: Bucky, not another hole! What are you even looking for?

Bucky barks and continues digging. James shakes his head and goes back to mowing.

[INT. JAMES' LIVING ROOM - NIGHT]

James is working on his taxes again. Bucky starts barking at the door, even though there's no one there.

JAMES: (Annoyed) Bucky, there's nobody there! Calm down!

Bucky keeps barking, getting more agitated. James gives in, opens the door, and looks outside.

JAMES: (To himself) I don't get it. What's gotten into him?

[EXT. JAMES' FRONT YARD - NIGHT]

James and Bucky walk outside. Bucky starts digging another hole.

JAMES: (Throwing hands up) Fine, Bucky! You win. Dig to your heart's content!

James walks back inside, leaving Bucky to dig.

[INT. JAMES' LIVING ROOM - NIGHT]

James is watching a documentary on North Korea. Bucky seems unusually interested and fixated on the TV.

JAMES: (Chuckles) You're a weird one, Bucky. You know that?

[EXT. JAMES' FRONT YARD - DAY]

James discovers an old, rusty metal box that Bucky dug up. He opens it and finds a series of old Korean documents and a photo of a dog that looks exactly like Bucky.

JAMES: (Stunned) What the...? Bucky, where did you find this?

Bucky looks at James and barks.

[INT. JAMES' LIVING ROOM - DAY]

James is researching the documents and discovers they are North Korean military plans from decades ago. The photo of the dog is labeled in Korean.

JAMES: (Reading) 행운의 개... Lucky Dog? Bucky, what is this all about?

Bucky whines and looks at the TV, which is playing a news report about a new peace treaty between North and South Korea.

JAMES: (Realization hits) Wait... are you...?

Bucky barks and looks at James, then back at the TV.

JAMES: (Softly) You're Korean.

Bucky tilts his head, as if to confirm.

JAMES: (Smiling) Well, Bucky... I guess that explains a lot. You're one incredible dog.

They sit together, watching the historic news unfold.

NARRATOR: (VOICEOVER) In a world of ordinary occurrences, James stumbled upon the extraordinary. For in the depths of his grumpy, acquiescent life, he found a companion with a tale as mysterious as the origins of the universe.

As James embraces the enigma that is Bucky, the threads of their lives intertwine, weaving a tapestry of mystery and friendship that transcends borders and time. And so, they step forward together, into the strange and wondrous realm known only as... The Twilight Zone.

Prompt Used:

Write a script in the style of the Twilight Zone about my friend James' Dog Bucky. Make James a grumpy but acquiescent accountant / comic book nerd. Make the big twist at the end be that his dog is korean.
